Exclusive
CVLT Nation Streaming NOOSE
Woe Unto You, Oh Earth And Sea
May 2012 16

Die haters die…you can hang yourself on the new NOOSE tape Woe Unto You, Oh Earth And Sea. This Providence, RI band has fucking done it again – crafted a fucking classic. It’s 28 minutes of maniacal mayhem that will give you the power to stab the eyes out of those that speak against you. Is there one weak link on this tape? Hell no, because all five songs have the death factor. NOOSE know how to write songs that speak anger on many different levels, plus something about their sonic chaos is almost mediative. The weeping willow riffage on “Of Loss and Ruin” has coffins full of blackened empathy that will have you transfixed in a state of charred bliss. The vocals on this song and others sound like the singer is vomiting up bones into to mic, creating an audio catacombs effect. NOOSE plays the kind of fuck the system black metal punk that I could listen to 24/7. When you hear the songs on Woe Unto You, Oh Earth And Sea, you get a sense that the band is telling a story about all of the fucked shit that so-called humanity has done in the name of power. What strikes me about this release is how the band’s music is so melodic; in a psychotic sort of way, each instrument is screaming out in torment in it’s own tongue. Unholy demon teeth, the song “Beastial Warlvst” is a perfect blend of disgusting d-beat cooked over the sizzling flame of some diseased black metal, and the warrior charge in this composition is insane. NOOSE killed shit with their first tape, Death and Hatred to All, but with Woe Unto You, Oh Earth And Sea they brought their filth to even lower depths! This band inspires us to do what we do, that is why we are so stoked that CVLT Nation is streaming Woe Unto You, Oh Earth And Sea in full below. Their new tape will be on sale HERE on the 17th, plus you can pick it up on their east coast tour this week. Check out the dates for the NOOSE onslaught after the jump…they will be sharing the stage with some sick bands!!!

I won’t front – I have done my share of drugs, but the only mind-altering substance that has played a key role in my life has been the almighty THC. I’m also addicted to watching documentaries. Left Mind Grow Black Roses…
Portland Punx Spotlight
May 2012 15

Text Source:Mishka Blogin

In 1978, Steve Ignorant with his corrosive speech and sardonic lyrics proclaimed that, in fact, punk was dead. He believed that systems, movements, and all other organizations would invariably dig their meat hooks into the spirit of the music and use it as a means to exploit and market an ideology. In an ironic twist of fate, his band Crass (along with bands such as Subhumans, Conflict, Zounds, and Rudimentary Peni) would receive mainstream attention as pioneers of anarcho-punk, also regarded as peace punk, leaving many of their British contemporaries in the shadows of their subsequent success.

Groups like The System, Omega Tribe, Lost Cherrees, Lack of Knowledge, Blyth Power, and The Mob were amongst those that had fallen into darkness. Many others were even signed to Crass Records (see their A-Sides compilations) and/or had opened for them at their shows but just never caught on. They had moved away from the cacophony that typically defined the genre, gravitating toward melodic chants and stripped-down folk instrumentation. This distinct sound wasn’t nearly as abrasive or confrontational in form but lyrically and poetically there was much still in common including a strong political undercurrent.

Flash forward twenty plus years in the future to the Pacific northwest where a group of subversives have been resurrecting the once echoed calls of those unsung UK artists. PDX is both the revival and re-imagining of that forgotten sect. Based out of Portland, Oregon, the scene incorporates components of post-punk, crust, d-beat, goth, new-wave, and industrial to create an emotional outpouring while staking and laying claim to new ground.

Rat’s Eyes…
BLACK FLAG Classic Full 1984 Gig
Now Showing!
May 2012 15

1984 was a fucking year to remember! One of my all-time favorite bands released 3 albums in one year, and played a crazy amount gigs. I’m talking about BLACK FLAG, who were on fire during this era. The lineup of Rollins, Ginn, Roessler and Steveson did some stellar damage while they were together. I love Chuck on bass, but I won’t front, Kira brought something really special to BLACK FLAG’s groove. Looking back on my youth, some of my coolest days or nights were spent watching them perform. By 1984, they were more than just a hardcore band. BLACK FLAG’s music had become a sonic beacon of weirdness for all of society’s rejects to tune into. Listening to them around this time opened up my mind to check other shit out. One thing that was evident during 1984 was that Henry had become way more comfortable as a frontman and seemed to be more into the new direction they were headed. By this time, their gigs were more about headbanging than slamming. I’m so excited to be sharing a full 1984 Hollywood show at Club Lingerie, with BLACK FLAG showing the world why when they hit the stage they could not be fucked with! What’s extra awesome about this footage is that it’s professionally shot, plus you get to see the band from some killer angles. So after the jump, look through rats eyes and peep this historic BLACK FLAG show!

Tattoo Sorcerer
Daniel Desecrator Corcuera Spotlight
May 2012 15

There has never been a time that I have looked at Daniel “Desecrator” Corcuera’s art and have not been fucking amazed. His art gives me the feeling that it was created by Lucifer himself, with the mission to destroy everything that is perceived as good! Like many wicked illustrators before him, Daniel has picked a new instrument of torment to spread his blackened apocalypse. He has has picked up the tattoo gun and is now the owner of Nekronikon Tattoo in Santiago, Chile. As an illustrator, Daniel has created graphics for some of the most vile bands in the underworld. His tattoo work is just as maniacal as his drawings, and seems to actually come to life on his victims’ skin. It seems that Daniel has the death touch to his work, that is why his lines are so morbidly awesome! I could write for daze about how sick his work is on many levels, but I’m going to allow it to make you bleed instead…peep the photo gallery after the jump!
