The Unworldly Summoning CD by CHURCH OF DISGUST comes out on Jan. 1st via Memento Mori. If this record was released on Dec.30, it would have been on our end of the year list for sure! This band plays the stench-filled kind of Death Metal that I really dig. CHURCH OF DISGUST also have a way of allowing other genres to creep into the mix of their creations that keeps their sound interesting. I don’t know why, but I get a punk/doom vibe from this band that makes me like them even more. I could inject myself with their cryptic riffs all day long and stay high on decaying death. CHURCH OF DISGUST should be recognized around the world as one of the most putrid death metal bands out right now. CVLT Nation is stoked to be streaming “Rotting Above Ground” by CHURCH OF DISGUST below!
For many different reasons, the first DANZIG album is my favorite of their work. If you are a fan of this band, then DANZIG – VHS is a must-see for you. This film captures the band on stage and behind the scenes…This is when they still had punks in the group and is definitely their best line-up!
What have I been listening to on repeat today? The new INDIAN song “Rhetoric Of No” from their soon to be released album All Purity. After hearing this song one time, it made me realize I must have this record on vinyl! You can pre-order the new INDIAN album here from Relapse Records…The official release date is Jan. 21st!…I’m calling it now…this is going to be one of the top records of 2014!
Yesterday, Dante Augustus Scarlatti, the visionary behind the label Auris Apothecary, reached out to us about his BLACK MASS project. It’s a live series that takes place in Bloomington, IN, and just like his label, this event pushes the boundaries of creativity. BLACK MASS XXIV took place at the Bishop Bar on Thursday, September 19th and featured our comrades LOCRIAN performing. What makes this so special is that Dante Augustus Scarlatti and his crew captured the whole show on hi-def film. LOCRIAN does not tour much, so to be able to see them do their thing live on film is very moving. While watching this, I said to myself, this band is unbelievable live – but it should be noted I’m a huge fan! CVLT Nation has been given the honor of premiering one of the very few full sets that you will find from this band. All Hail BLACK MASS for sharing this with us, and make sure to check out his label Auris Apothecary, which has some of the most interesting packaging on the planet! Right now, check out over 40 minutes of LOCRIAN molding sound into something beyond sound.
Altar of Betelgeuze from Finland is a young band that are creating some sticky riffs that many people are going to to be getting high on very soon! Their soon to be released album Darkness Sustains The Silence comes out on Jan. 1st via Memento Mori. What makes this band interesting is that they take chances with their sound and are creating doom on their own terms. CVLT Nation has the honor of streaming the new Altar of Betelgeuze tune “The Approaching Storm” below…Now spark up your bong and get your DOOM ON!
Check out this very rare documentary The Power Of The Witch from 1971. This film was only aired once and not very much is known about it. This an interesting look at the British occult world during the 70′s.
It’s fucking ON! New music from HIGH ON FIRE, plus it’s in the form of a demented visual for their new song “Slave the Hive”. These metal hellions are now on tour with our comrades in doom Windhand and Norwegian heavy mongers Kvelertak, so make sure to catch them on the road! In the meantime, get ballistic with HIGH ON FIRE – dive right into “Slave the Hive”!
Just scramble your brains and die…or better yet plug your self into the new split from Wolfe & Sete Star Sept then die. For just over 8 minutes, both bands will cave in your skull with the weight of their terrorizing audio assault that takes place while listening to this split. Check it out – you can blast the stream below then download this bastard for free!!!
