If you thought your opportunity to go to an epic fest in 2013 was over, you were wrong! The 305 Fest is in its 7th year, and is giving you an opportunity to enjoy some warm weather, sun and DIY music from Dec. 26th to 29th. To celebrate, they have compiled a rad mixtape for you to enjoy and psych yourself up to make it through the next couple of cold weeks until you head to Miami!
This winter from Dec. 26-29, Miami will host it’s 7th 305 Fest, with 50 bands spanning four days of DIY shows, beach and dance parties. This year is special, because the local scene has raised funds through months of benefit shows for the fest.
This might just be the longest mixtape ever made, and it has been created by ANbRx, aka Agoraphobic Nosebleed. It’s yours for free – over 11 1/2 hours of experimental sonic DMT…follow the link below!
“The Minutes Felt Like Hours” was recorded in one take 11/9/2013 Produced by J. Randall for the ANbRx Pharmaceuticals group llc. Because of its length (over 11.5 hours) the file size for this recording was just too large to master and as result is relatively quiet, please adjust the volume on your system audio player as needed. This recording was inspired by the shifting visual geometry and time. distortion one can experience from smoking N,N-Dimethyltryptamine.

Mix tapes have always been the most engaging, most personal, and the most dependable gateway to new music for me. Even in 2013 when pretty much any song or band I could ever want to hear is readily available on Youtube or blogs, I still consistently discover my new favorite music through exchanging tapes with friends. It may seem archaic and maybe even pointless to a lot of people, but there is something about the craft and the ritual surrounding it that makes the mix tape such a unique way of experiencing music. Just the fact that there is any sort of actual effort involved in creating a mix tape illustrates a sincere appreciation and value for the music contained therein. A rarity, for sure, especially in a time where music has become so disposable and mindlessly consumed.
When Sean approached us about curating a tape for CVLT Nation, I was very excited to have the opportunity to contribute something like this to such an esteemed website. I did my best to compile songs that I feel fit the vibe of Morne but also to highlight some of my personal influences over the past few years. This is not a showcase of ultra-obscure rarities, it’s simply a mix of my current music obsessions, heavy hitter classics as well as some tracks by friends whose work I admire. Though it may lack the tangible/personal touch of an actual cassette, I hope you enjoy the listening experience.

This can be a difficult process. Picking sounds that mean the most to you and the music you create. Turns out it was illuminating and enjoyable.
Huge thanks to Sean and CVLT NATION for all the support and asking for us to make this mix tape.
Owlfood as a project is most satisfying because of our individual eclectic taste as music fans. We’ve been friends forever and we innately understand how each others’ tastes filters its way into our music. This mix tape is an example of what we might listen to on a more constant basis, essentially guitar based music. But our listening definitely enters the realms of jazz, electronic music, minimalism, noise, field recordings… it’s a constant adapting sound, vibrating forever and ever and ever…
