Check out Obliteration at the Relapse Records X CVLT Nation SXSW 2014 Showcase, March 12th at Dirty Dog Bar! More info here…
We are counting down the days to next Wednesday’s showcase, and OBLITERATION has put together a road trip mix for their journey to this year’s SXSW. Check out the playlist below as well as what Sindre has to say about his picks!
This is the playlist I’m gonna listen to on my way to the USA and the South by Southwest showcase. A good mix of what I have been into the last couple of months. A lot of death metal, but some other smooth stuff also. A good mix of the kind of music that speaks to me. Enjoy.
Well, we’re two years into these Deathrock mixtapes, and the fascination that dark postpunk and deathrock continues to hold over the punk scene continues unabated, even if many punker-than-thou bands refuse to acknowledge their own new swing into gothic territory, proud as some would-be tastemakers are. The punk scene’s dipping into the waters of this tradition is producing, to me, some of the best new music around these days. And the best of that is represented in the mixtape below.
CVLT Nation is bringing in our third year with our heaviest Doom Nation mixtape to date! Doom Nation Vol. III is almost three hours of crushing, pulverizing basslines, so heavy that you won’t be able to lift yourself off the floor for days! This epic mixtape features 18 of our favorite doom bands, including Shadow of the Torturer, Monolord, Electric Wizard, Grey Widow, Nightslug and many more.
The countdown is on to SXSW and our showcase on March 12th with Relapse Records, and to celebrate we have a rad mixtape from a rad band – Sonic Cathedrals Vol. CXXXV Christian Mistress! Check it out below and whip your hair!
The following are some tunes Christine, Oscar and I picked out. Christian Mistress will be performing at SXSW on March 11th with Indian and Windhand at the Pitchfork Show case and on March 12th with Windhand at the Relapse showcase. Cheers! -Jonny

One of the best things about being a part of CVLT Nation is the relationships we have with so many cool humans around the world. MASAKARI was a band that not only created a classic album in The Prophet Feeds, but also walked the walk to stand up for everything they sang about. When I got to see them live and meet them face to face, I was not disappointed at all. They were humble and super smart dudes that inspired me to keep doing what we were doing. I’m not happy to hear that MASAKARI is not a band any more, but I know that each member will go on to do killer things for the global scene we are all a part of…Today CVLT Nation celebrates our favorite moments with MASAKARI, a post that includes full sets, a mixtape, a live set download and an interview…R.I.R…Rest In Radness!
The almighty SLOWDIVE have reunited for a string of shows taking place this summer, and I’m ultra excited!!! Simon Scott just did something very special for the fans. He curated this really cool mixtape for Dazed Digital and it is the first SLOWDIVE mix ever. Check out the stream below and peep what Simon has to say about his song collection…
Today CVLT Nation is proud to present a rad new mixtape compiled by HC legends DROPDEAD! Sonic Cathedrals Vol. CXXXIV DROPDEAD will remind you of some of the best HC made to date…so get your steel toe boots on and stomp it out below!!
It’s taken some hours to get together this playlist. Thinking back on when we started hanging out together, then playing music together… then all of a sudden it’s 25 years you’ve been friends and you’re still hanging out playing music. That’s a pretty good run for anyone. These are some of the bands we listened to a lot in the early days. Some of these songs we covered at practice for fun, some are bands we were friends with. Pre-internet. You had to write letters, trade tapes and records via real mail, building lifelong friendships, sharing what you had, one trip to the post office at a time. I still remember getting some of this music on tape in the mail, and we would all make copies to share with each other and friends around the world. I think this is a pretty good snapshot of what four guys were listening to, and I’m sure Bob and Brian would have some similar picks, and a bunch of different stuff as well. Honestly, I could easily add another 100 songs by 100 more bands, and I’d need to do a few more playlists just to cover the tons of non-Punk/HC stuff that influenced us, but let’s stick to the basics: US and International HC/Punk/Thrash whatever you want to call it. Stuff that kicked our ass and made us want to play hardcore. Thanks for the inspiration.

CVLT Nation is stoked to bring you Sonic Cathedrals Vol. CXXXIII WAKE today! This mixtape is sure to grind your eardrums down to dust! Also, make sure to check out WAKE on their upcoming tour…more info below!
My CVLT Nation Mixtape. It’s a simple format of classics and some under-rated gems. I chose multiple songs by the same artist as that’s how I made tapes in the “pre-ipod” world of walkman’s and tape decks. WAKE is touring the west coast in February. We hope to see some old friends and hopefully make some new ones. Come out and GRIND.
