The local Greek scene has undeniably had an impact on Dephosphorus. In both sides of this mixtape (Side Theta by Thanos and Side Pi by Panos), you will find a representative sample of the variety that characterizes the local metal/hardcore scene from the early 90′s until today.
The groups featured here are influences of ours and/or friends. Most of the bigger bands (aka those well known abroad), were left out on purpose in order to free space for lesser known underground acts, and there’s also some exclusive/unreleased tracks (marked with a “@”)!!! Some old tracks were left out due to bad vinyl rips, we hope to be able to include decent versions to a future vol. II!
Last but not least, please spare a couple of minutes from your precious time and sign this petition. It is about the abolisHment of Greek anti-blasphemy laws and the acquittal of a local blogger who dared being sacrastic to a local orthodox monk.

I took notice of “Stand By Your Man” years ago when watching the film Five Easy Pieces. Scelsi is one of my favorite composers and I got to take a private tour of his home when I was in Rome recently. I have been recently exploring Bach’s music after hearing it in Tarkovsky’s films. “The Bed” is from Lou Reed’s Berlin and that may be my favorite solo album of his. Z.M Dagar’s playing is beautiful to my ears. The Funeral Mist track speaks for itself. Intense and over the top.

CVLT Nation is stoked that Sonic Cathedrals Vol. LXXV Curated by Light Bearer goes live today! SONIC ART…
Having six members of a band doesn’t just mean having a lot of tracks to choose from but also a whole smorgasbord of different styles and genres as well as reasons for inclusion. Rather than collating a list which we felt would illustrate the band’s collective musical taste we decided to allocate each member 20 minutes to choose their own personal favourites including songs that we felt influenced us musically, shaped our beliefs politically and some that are just really great songs.
Looking back at the variety that we’ve chosen it’s not too dissimilar from the time when, in Berlin, we were asked by two people who came to the show what we were currently listening to in the van in which we “confessed” to listening to the new Blink 182 album. We were met with looks of both fear and disgust. I have a feeling some of these song choices could do the same… but hopefully not.

The focus of this compilation is pretty much based on friends of ours or bands that crossed our path during the last years. Bands that hit the road with us, with whom we spent great times in the van and on the streets, or bands we met on the road and shared great nights and great talks with. All of these are memories that we don’t want to miss! On the other hand we added some of those special bands that influenced us in a huge way and made us become the band that we are today. Hopefully you will enjoy as much as we did while creating this compilation!

“Houses of Fir was an alternative title for our new album, No Holier Temple, out soon on Svart Records. This mix is all about our influences and the music we were listening to while writing and recording our new record. It’s about nature and witchcraft and the magic songs of the forest. Our religion is nature and our gods are the oldest truest gods, the pantheon of the natural world – temples of trees, houses of fir.”
We really hope that you like it!

Baltimore. Yes, it’s dirty, yes there’s a lot crime and yes the weather sucks, but there are some pretty awesome things too. I’m sure you guys know Baltimore practically breeds aggressive music but I would like to introduce you to another side…
If you want me to break it down, I’d say these twelve tracks are a mix of psychedelic snythpop experimental noisy indie art rock. Listen and it will make sense.
So here you go. The sticky summer nights. The bitter cold winters. The hidden warehouse shows without addresses. The melodic. The experimental. The dreamy. The hypnotic. The independent.

Ring the alarm…the worldwide Stussy Tribe has teamed up with one of our favorite British labels Alakazam for an upcoming gear collabration that will drop on Aug. 24th. Give Praise Records has always tried to spread out the mix of independent and extreme music, be it punk, hardcore, etc – trying to put together a good mix of sounds and also a good mix of bands, being from all over the world and not focusing on US bands only. We work with a lot of radical bands and this is just a sampling of them, these songs are from previous and upcoming titles – also, we tossed in a live track from a local band we worked with for a while.
