CVLT Nation is so stoked that STRIFE is back with a vengence with the release of their new album Witness A Rebirth! Now read what inspired Andrew to pick the bands he did for this gnarly mixtape!
The Hardcore Alphabet is a collection of some of my favorite hardcore songs of all time. “Witness A Rebirth” is about taking everything that I learned about hardcore from the bands that inspired me and passing that down to the new generation of hardcore kids… This generation has their favorite bands, their heroes, and their own glory days… All we can do is offer them knowledge that has been passed down to us and hope that they preserve the true spirit of hardcore… Newer bands like Down To Nothing, Rotting Out, Take Offense, and Piece by Piece are doing just that… I get the same energy and inspiration seeing them as I did seeing classic bands such as Judge, Warzone, Chain of Strength, or Infest…
Hopefully this mix inspires you to check out some of the bands both old and new! Thanks for listening!

Cassidy has offered the first 13 tracks to start any vampire punk’s party, while I chose the next 13 as an umlauted soundtrack to whatever debauchery said party or ritual could and should descend into. So here’s my mix-tape!
I always find it hard doing these kinds of “lists” on a specific subjects, mainly because I think that all music inspires me in some way and I never just listen to one kind of music genre to get into the right mood for a task at hand.
For instance, in the process of writing music and lyrics to a new Grave album, I would go totally nuts and definitely get uninspired if I only bombarded myself with old school death metal. Fans seem to have a very glorified picture of musicians and many think that we only listen to the same stuff that we are writing and performing– well, that’s not for me anyway, and honestly not really too many of my friends in the business either. ‘Nuff said, this is my mix-tape with a bunch of tunes that I simply call good music. Never mind genres and trying to impress with diehard bullshit. If it’s good then it’s good, simple as that..

This mix tape doesn’t have a set theme, although it’s certainly framed by the cross section of what we both listen to in Viral Graphics. These are songs that have accompanied drawing sessions and long hazy discussions. This tape (well, downloadable binary code – rip it to tape!) consists of some known bands and others lesser known, from both the present and dark past, ranging from crackhead snuff film music to psychedelic astral freak outs. Sometimes kind of close to what we do in Viral. No point in trying to tie it all together with words, but we hope it makes for an interesting – limited to C-90- tapestry. Suggested volume is always excruciatingly loud.
