I am really looking forward to their new record & this song does not let me down. Tombs are a great mix of dirge metal with early 80′s goth. What do these dates mean to you: June 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2011? These are the dates that Austin becomes the center of everything Doom, Punk, Crust, Hardcore, Dis-Beat, Trash Metal, Post Punk & the attack of weirdos from around the universe. These are the dates of this year’s Chaos in Tejas!!! Many things make this fest so special – one thing is, the people behind it are the real deal. They may be responsible adults today, but in the early 80′s they were the outcast misfits, who grew up to put on super epic festivals for fellow outcasts to enjoy. Another thing about Chaos in Tejas is they know that all fringe music & subcultures are cut from from the same rebellious mindset, & you can see that in the bands they book. They prove that unity is best served with loads of beer, sunshine & killer music! This year’s lineup is just so off the chain it’s even hard to wrap my brain around it. Here are a couple of bands that will slaying shit this year: Killing Joke, Doom, Fucked Up, D-Clone, Acephalix, Trap Them, Orange Goblin, Youth of Today, Iron Lung – see what I mean? & this only a few. Ok, this post gets even better with help of Jack Barfield, the photographer – we put together a little photo essay of the festival which you can see after the jump. TEARGAS from Brisbane, Australia is getting ready to invade the US! Beyond stoked for this! The tour will kick off May 18th at Que Sera in Long Beach, California and will end in June playing the 2nd-5th for this years Chaos In Tejas in Austin, Texas. If you haven’t heard this band I suggest you do! For fans of PISSCHRIST, Extortion, and DOOM. TEARGAS will be releasing a LP before the tour and have Murdoch Stafford working on both the tour poster and album artwork. Links, demo, photos, and more after the jump.
When listening to Sage, I think of denim, desert sands, wild cactus, open sky, off-the-grind towns & magic mushrooms. Sage is the soon to be released album by ACROSS TUNDRAS on Neurot Recordings on May 17. This record is produced in a way that makes you feel Mother Nature & human beings part in it. The sound on Sage is very expansive & if I had to give the sound of this album a color it would be blue, because it is definitely an ocean of sound. ACROSS TUNDRAS have the power to create these calm soundscapes that can become these psychedelic storms of rad sludge. The singer’s voice commands the respect from the ghosts of the old west. This album draws you in to its energy and keeps you wanting to listen. With Sage, ACROSS TUNDRAS have created an album of Americana Soul that will be the soundtrack to your day dreaming. Fucking Late Pass… Jesuit Reunion in NYC0

Man, mega late pass for me… but it seems like Jesuit is playing a reunion show this weekend for the first time since they broke up at Santos Party house. 1000 Knives is putting it on and claims that it’s all sold out. Who knows though, if you head downtown and give a good’nuff handjob you may be able to cop one off the sidewalk.

Hold on, I’m putting my mind back together…it was blown to bits after witnessing Atriarch’s (Seventh Rule’s newest addition to their epic roster) video. This band combines some of my favorite musical genres – doom metal, death rock & even hints of crust – into an intelligent soundscape. This performance was captured only days ago @ First Church of the Buzzard in Oakland. Atriarch is one band that I’m looking forward to seeing live. Roadburn festival is the place to be this April if you love psychedelic, avant-garde doom sounds. Everyone I have spoken to about this Netherlands-based festival says it’s totally off the chain, and while looking over the line-up for this year’s festival I can they are correct. I won’t make it this year, but Cris from Ritual Productions will be covering this superdelic event in Tilburg for CVLT Nation so stay tuned.
