You have to be a special kind of motherfucker to actually enjoy FERAL KING’s music in the truest sense of the word. Most people would probably prefer an endodontic treatment or something alike. But as we all know most people suck anyway – and that’s why they’ll never get the painful, raw energy of bands like this. Read the full review and stream the whole record further down.
Virginia’s FERAL KING play a style of chaotic, frantic, semi-metallic Hardcore that had its heyday in the 90ies with bands like Rorschach and Botch in the US or Acme or Systral in Germany. By dropping names like these you ought to know what terrifying sounds to expect on this four-song 7″ EP, out on RDG Records: Razor-sharp riffs accompanied by almost jazzy rhythms, occasional breakdowns and extremely raucous screams are making sure that you’ll hardly be able to catch a breath during the eight minutes of this record. But don’t let the 90ies references fool you – FERAL KING dish an absolutely contemporary brew of extreme music that could hardly be outdated.
Similar for example to the amazing new Gaza record, FERAL KING achieve their relentless heaviness not by the lowest guitar tuning or the sickest moshparts. This record is heavy because of the overall craze, the seemingly uncontrolled outburst of rage that’s defining those songs. Like I said, this self-titled EP ain’t for the weak, but for damn sure it was never intended to be.
