I was inspired by my John Howe Tolkien art post yesterday to search out some more fantasy art from my favorite novels. Of course, next up had to be artwork inspired by George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. The concept art for this series is pretty awesome, but a little too tech-y for my liking (it was created as workable backdrops for the TV show). So I searched through the Deviantart database for Game of Thrones fan art and holy shit did I find a lot! It’s not surprising, as both the books and the TV show have captured imaginations around the world. So below find some of my favorites done in both digital and traditional formats, with the artist credit above the image. Some of these are purely fan art, others were done for official Game of Thrones video and card games, but they’re all awesome and capture the stories well. My favorites are the ones who were clearly influenced by the books, and not the TV characters. **If you haven’t read all the books yet, some of these may be spoilers…**
